Recent Moving Company Experience

The Story.

Recently, the moving company that was hired to perform a simple move from one end of the country to the other. Came in and really screw'd the pooch.
Hello, my name is Raymond A. Farland.
Recently, I called and subsequently hired, a moving company; "Neighbor's Moving & Storage," on December 29th, 2011, "Red Gold Logistics’," showed up. They arrived at my door, identified who they represented; I welcomed them into my home, to identify, to mark, and to collect and gather, and otherwise take possession of, a Vintage Harley Davidson Motorcycle; all of my personal possessions, and Private Property, Everything I hold near and dear in this world. They were hired to move my things from the state of New Hampshire, to the state of Oregon, during the early month of January 2012. That is what happened. What was to follow will be a true telling of the events, which occurred those fateful early weeks, that turned into months during the early few weeks of 2012. During that journey, you will here a story that hopefully will awaken you more, to a new reality. Being more fully aware that this sort of thing doesn't happen to you. This may be disturbing to some; some will not understand what happened. Those that do, will be happy to know I did get some of my things back. Well, the most important stuff like the photos; the artwork; the writings. I all got back, but everything else they took. Almost everything I had of value they took. Even clothing and personal items. Everything was pilfered through, and torn apart looking for valuables, and anything that looked like it could be sold.

On Tuesday, January 03, 2012, at approximately 09:30 am, Red Gold Logistics’, a moving company under contract; I questioned, and assumed at the time, I mean, who else would show up at my front door, with all the pertinent, private, and relative information they had about me. About the other property I needed to collect, gather, and pickup at the other address, not five miles away. Where the bulk of my personal property was located at, which they were supposed to pick-up. And all the other info they had, regarding this move. Indicating to me that they were for real; that they were a legitimate, established company. That they had pertinent, confirmed and specific information about me and about the move. That could only have come from interaction with "Neighbors Moving and Storage," who I hired, to collect my personal belongings; my private property, all that I hold near and dear in this world; thing's that I have collected, worked for, and earned together, over a relative lifetime. "Red Gold Logistic's," showed up at my front door, said who they were, I looked at their credentials, and the contract; a Firm Fixed Price Contract. Reviewed the contract and signed it. The movers started to collect, wrap, and put orange identifying tags on all of my personal property; all the items that were being shipped and moved to Oregon, that bright, sunny, and otherwise normal day, now it seemed, so very long ago.

The movers who showed up at my front door acted professionally, and efficiently, and were well organized; leaving me the impression that I hired the right company to do the Job. The person I originally spoke with on the phone, to get this ball rolling was "Louis Coradin," on Dec. 29, 2011, a "Moving Consultant," at "Neighbor's Moving and Storage."

There was little indication, from that point, things were amiss. Which would have, I believe, suggesting things were, could be abnormal, or end up that way. But, I got no; "Red-Flags," or "Hidden," or "Gut," messages of deceit, leaving me the impression, and giving me the confidence, I made the right decision. That the company was on the up and up, and progressing as agreed upon by the contract signed on Jan 03, 2012!

Well the first guaranteed delivery date of January 10, 2012, came and went without word from "Red Gold." I called them that day, and discovered they were moving; the truck that is, with all my stuff on it, as directed. Then, shortly thereafter that is, is when I started this journey, this never-ending nightmare. From a "Licensed Moving Company," doing business; "Red Gold Logistic's," and "Neighbors Moving & Storage." To afford them every attempt to communicate relevant information, and course-altering decisions that effect directly, those "Private Possessions," which belong to "Paying Consumers," that was entrusted to be "Held in High Esteem," and "Regard," during their; "Red Golds'" possession of said "Private Property." For the duration of the move from NH, to OR, back in January 2012.

Word came shortly thereafter of the company; "Red Gold Logistic's," predicament. Now stuck in the snow, in Colorado. So, O.K., their stuck; nothing much to do but wait for word, right? Well, after a few days, maybe four, I inquired again as to how they were doing, and the disposition of their Journey, and my property? (At this stage, I have contacted the company; "RGL," several times, and this time, around the 15th of Feb, 13 days past the signed contract. It was still too early to tell something might be amiss, or was otherwise; "Rotten in Denmark." there was nothing different; no response.) At this stage, on the 15th, of Feb. when I made that call to "RGL," to find out the status of a "Move," now 43 days in the making. The reality now slowly seeping into my consciousness is: "Oh... Hell, No." Not me, this didn't happen to me, did it? This only happens to unprepared people, not me! I was prepared. At least as much as I thought? The company told me then? That is, the "Company Dispatcher," who I believe has been there all along. Who fed me, (What was to become and turned out to be a "Bold-Face-Lie"), the lie, they told me, was the truck, with all my stuff on it, was stuck in a snowstorm in "Colorado!" [At this stage, they hadn't even left the station; (New Jersey) yet]. And the voice. Now repeating over and over again in my head, the same voice that I've been hearing all along, Danny Dino.

Well, back to the story.

I completely understood getting stuck on the snow. I mean, who wouldn't? They were traveling in Colorado, in a snow storm, who wouldn't believe that. Then about three, or four days later, I inquired again? This time Danny Dino, at "Red Gold" told me they were still in Colorado, this time with a broken axle? Well, I didn't know what to say, or think about that revelation. Except to think that "Shit Happens," right, and chalk it up to that! That was a total deception. "Red Gold," at this stage of the move, hadn't even left New Jersey yet. That revelation really put this whole story into a new category; a "Gory Story." (This is what was relayed to me by "Mr. Johnson," at "Neighbors Moving and Storage," around that same time on that cold winter day back on the 15th, of February, 2012.) At that time, is when I began to questioning, every aspect of this entire move.

To this point any communication with either "Neighbors Moving and Storage," and "Red Gold Logistics," has been initiated by me. To date, I've received a total of four phone calls from both of the movers, combined? Neither one of them, ever took the time to accommodate my needs, or concerns? I should have seen it then? The signs were coming through wave after wave. I should have done something? Anything to prevent them from basically looting all my things? Of the times that there have been connections made, the conversations have always been short and plain; no emotion; indeed a certain retrospective began to emerge from thin air, warning me then. Reminiscent of times when the reality of any given situation, whatever that is, that shakes your apathy into action. That I be the one? The one that has now this task of not letting them get away with it. But I too, know the reality of what can be accomplished if you put your mind to it. So here we go.

At that time, around the middle of February, I was made aware of certain ground-breaking information, a revelation really, about "Red Gold Logistics," namely that they were in the process of "Bankruptcy, chapter 7, or 11," not sure which, but their new email as of February 28, 2012, is: (mailto:chapter7.rgl@ gmail.com). This came directly from Mr Johnson, in an email he sent me on February 28, directly from "Dave Gold," himself, owner: operator of the now defunct "Red Gold Logistics." Oh, by the way Dave Gold, I hear, "Has Left The Country." I'll bet he's living it up on some beach somewhere in south America? Who knows.

Sidebar: I wonder if Louis Coradin, when he set me up with these movers; "Red Gold Logistics." Did "Neighbors Moving & Storage," know "Red Gold Logistics," was in financial dire straights, prior to directing them and letting them come to my home, and take away one of my most prized possessions; a "97" Vintage, Harley Davidson, Badboy, Springer, in mint condition, not a scratch or blemish on her.

Anyway, after discovering this truth, that they were not stuck in Colorado, with my property; that they hadn't, not until that day Sunday, in January, the 29th, 2012. They never even left the storage facility where my things were being stored, what were they doing with all my stuff for so long? We'll get back to that later. Moving on, so back in New Jersey, still. all the stories so far was just that, Stories; make believe bull! The truth, or their version of it. By Me Johnson, (What job title, or employment capacity he holds there is still unclear, but he's the one I always talk to, the one I am now becoming aware of my be somehow involved, as to the disposition of my "My Stuff/ My Harley"). Furthermore, when it was discovered that they; "Red Gold," was financially strapped, and needing capital to generate revenue to operate, then that's when things got really interesting? That's when this whole; "Gory Story," began to evolve into this hideous thing? This "What-ever-the-hell-it-was," thing, turned into now something else; "The unknown." "A no-man's land." finally, they showed up to deliver on an warm; early, sunny afternoon, February 27, 2012!

The Attempted Delivery.

So now, many days have gone by and still no sign, not hide nor hair of them, not even so much as an email, text, or phone call. Limbo, a place that is becoming more and more frighteningly clear, a place no-one should ever have to be. A place where nothing exists.

As I mentioned before, and without repeating things over and over again, since Sunday, Jan 29 2012, I was told this new thing about "Red Gold Logistics," and now I am really frustrated. I cannot believe it! The driver who showed up at my door, over three weeks late, on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, and with only "Some," of my "Stuff." Not my "Brand New Bed." I wonder if they even had the bed on the truck, then? He, the driver, demanded more money; right up front? "More Money," I said; that's when I went inside to get the contract. The driver also, started to talk about how far the distance was to my front door. My apartment, located near the back of the complex where I live, is about 135 feet from my front door, to the sidewalk. Where the truck was parked. I told the driver as soon as he starts getting stuff off the truck; I will pay him the balance I owe, which I had in my pocket at time of delivery. The contract had an amount on it that I had pretty much memorized as agreed upon, even though they; "Red Gold Logistics," were in "Breach of Contract," by not delivering on that day. One week prior, to the end of the "Contract Delivery Window," they said, and signed a contract stating such was Friday, February 3rd, 32 days. Anyway, I went inside my apartment for a second to get the contract, to cross-reference it with what information the driver had about the move, then I heard it, or thought I heard it, but that can't be! Well, sure enough, when I went back outside, to look where the truck had been, the truck was rolling down the road. I couldn't believe it. Driving off? Where? Where were they going? Were they turning around to reposition themselves? What did the driver say right before he left? These were just some of the questions I was asking myself. As I watched them slowly disappear down the road. One of the first things that crept into my head was disbelief, I couldn't believe it. I was in shock. I didn't really now how to react. Looking back, I can see what this effect, playing over and over again from client to client, would have on the unsuspecting victim. And, what if they did happen to show-up without my Harley? How did they plan to explain that one? I think I would have lost it. Had they delivered, and it was discovered the bike wasn't on the truck? Wow? I don't even want to go there. So, now I'm thinking about that "97" Harley Davidson Badboy Springer. And, the reality now shakes my apathy into action. The Harley. An FXSTSB, V-Twin 1340 Evolution; 80 cubic inches of displacement; All Black with all chrome, a Vintage soft-tail. A Limited Edition (They only made these particular Bikes for two years; from 1995 to 1997, The Bad-Boy).

The Driver Incident: retold, as it happened.

Here's the latest, March 01, 2012. The Driver Incident:

I am frustrated to no end!
The Moving Company showed up at my door on Monday, February 27, early afternoon. I met the driver who, right away started talking about how far he'd have to walk from the truck to my front door. The driver, spoke only about how many steps beyond the contracted, agreed upon distance they were going to travel, and the money that I owed them. Now more than what I thought I owed, which was written on the contract. In retrospect, not worth the paper on which it was written. I suddenly mentioned how great it would be to finally sleep in my own specially made bed for my back, but the driver said their was no bed on the truck. Then, I said "What!" How could that be? He said my bed was on another truck. I couldn't believe it! The driver was impatient, shuffled around a lot, and he talked over his words, as if whimpering to someone else, or thinking out loud. At that point, they, The Moving Company, RGL, were 56 days late delivering my things. Back in New Hampshire, I paid nearly $2,300.00 up front so far for this Move. Well, that's all there was to it. The next thing, I turn around, and the driver, along with only some oft stuff, was driving down the road. WOW!!! I couldn't believe it! I stood there in silence, wondering what I was going to do now. I wanted to shoot the tires out from under the truck! The latest thing is this. "Danny Dino," the one who has my "Harley," now, apparently all that's left of "Red Gold Logistics," called me today and told me to come up with $1,675.00. To go to his bank, locally, and deposit that amount into his account. In order now, to secure my stuff. Or, what I discovered was left of it? At that juncture, the instruction's were; I have to go to a local bank, and remit that cash into the account; number provided, then once that is confirmed, I would be given the storage facility information to where my stuff is being stored. And the unit number it is being stored in. Even if I do this it's extortion! Just the mere fact that they are asking me for money is suspect! I am completely shocked that this thing could actually happen in the real world. Oh, don't get me wrong, I've seen my fair share of what we humans are capable of doing to one another. That there are people out there who do this thing for a living, I'm sure! I'm sorry, that is just wrong, period. I cannot believe I've been taken to the cleaners here; raked over the coals. This whole experience has galvanized me into some other thing, reflected only by the remnants now of this experience dealing with these people. So now, we are here, a place where I am becoming more and more aware. That I may never again see my things. Time passes; slowly, I suddenly and without any reservation, give up! I now surrender, completely. I have known that some things in this world you have to endure. And, I have come to know you don't have understand everything in this world, that occurs, or happens to you. It's ok if you don't. I have totally resigned myself of never seeing my things again. Completely surrendered to it. Gave up the ghost. At this stage, confusion is running amuck, and rampant. Isolation and frustration my only friends. Now, I've gone and done something that has been hard for me in the past to do. Relinquish control. Its not that I feel I need to be in control of every situation. But I do need to be aware of every situation I encounter that may either effect the way I feel or what I say. Sometimes, around the people who have come to know me, or who have recently travelled with me, down this road, know that I am a fair man. That I am generous man, a kind man, and a fellow traveler. One who is only trying to adjust now, to a reality that can only have no good outcome.

I have done a complete inventory.

They ransacked my stuff box from box, taking anything shiny and worth value; everything along the way. They pretty much took anything that looked like it had value. Even new jeans and sneakers, and my leathers they took. They left my stuff, as if, by the side of the road. Everything else has got this film cover all over it. Like it had all gone through the shredder. Let's see, they, well, pretty much, took anything that looked like it could be sold somewhere, anywhere, anytime. The storage manager, when I told him this fantastical story; I thought he was going to call the police. He understood, once I showed him evidence that I knew the owner of the storage unit where they half hazardly threw everything into a 4X8 storage unit. The storage manager said; "I'll get the cutters, and cut the lock off." So he did, and sure enough it was my stuff, or what was left of it. Thinking about it now, or in retrospect, I'm really surprised they even left me that much. As I write these words it is apparent clear here that I've been scammed right from the start. I'll bet that once you finished with the reading here one absolute thing will start to emerge. That the Movers, were crooks, who from the beginning knew I was never again going to see that Harley...

They had literally crammed everything in there, somehow, it all fit. This is why I couldn't understand them, when they showed up to deliver three weeks late. Why they didn't have all my stuff on one truck, then.

Then a revelation?

A real kick in the pants?

I got a question?

Where did they store my Harley?

There wasn't any room to put it in there.

The manager did not recall them handling a motorcycle, but did recall them. He described them as Middle Eastern, and he noted them, remembered them, they left a lasting impression. He mentioned them in disregard, and had a derogatory word or two, but I can't recall as to the exact word's. Which makes sense because I could not even understand him, the driver, sometimes when he spoke to me that day, back on that Monday in late February.

Moving on, it gets better. It just so happened that Danny, and I had reached an agreement. I sent him the tile, he gives me the location of the storage. Well, I should have saw that one coming too. Of course he didn't do his part.

So, there I was, left with only words to try and somehow coax him into giving me my stuff back. I had not apparently not quite given up yet, even though I had totally resigned myself to never seeing any trace of my belongings, ever again. I think that is when I gave up the ghost. And, when that happened, I could speak plainly and clearly without emotion creeping in and screwing it all up for me.
I won't bore you with the long drawn out details, but lets just say, when I get the words together?

So now we are here, the storage facility. The very same one storage facility where RGL, initially put my things?

How could that be?

Yes, it just so happened that I picked the same storage facility as they did on February 27, when they failed to deliver, then. I think my baby sister said it best, "They probably separated all the valuables back in New Jersey, before they even came out here." And, "When they showed up here, then, they either took the Bike back then, or they never showed up with it at all, which is why he drove off;" "it makes perfect sense." He didn't want me actually to see it because the Bike wasn't actually there? Wow, that would have been a shocker! How would they have explained that one. That, more than anything else, explains completely why they drove off in the first place. Because I wasn't going to be the perfect victim. The one who is shocked into submission, and too embarrassed to speak. That they say nothing of the experience to anyone who would question them. And bring to them any attention, they are totally embarrassed. Into submission, no recource. Lest something like this happen again to them. So that they say nothing about it, to no-one, ever! The perfect crime. You get the insurance company to cover the losses, but not a penny comes out of anyone from the moving company's pockets, though. Wow, the perfect crime. I think I'll open up business, call it "Moving; Do I have a company for you?" "Not just a Moving Company, we care, we really, really do." And, go gallivanting all around the countryside collecting other people's possessions, and then sell it on Craigslist, or EBay, or have a big truck sale. Just open up the back and sell it piece by piece. And, other places where you can get rid of hot items fast. They probably got some assembly line somewhere. When your stuff arrives it is put onto a conveyer belt and slowly, as the package, box, or container is moving along, people are taking stuff from it, going through your pockets, even repacking some of it once they've filtered through everything? And, as each truck comes through they are slowly picked apart by those; "Dirty little thieves." Man, I just can't get over someone going through my stuff like that, picking through the photos, personal items, wow, I can't even imagine the look on the faces of those souls, those people who's stuff is lingering somewhere in time in space, there could even be emerging right next door. Never to be seen or heard from again, but where?

Addresses and Phone Numbers;
Neighbor's Moving and Storage Inc. 3155 North Andrews Ave, Ext Pompano Beach, FL 33064.
Ph. 1 (800) 498-1939, Ext. 152,
Fax. 1 (888) 802-5116].
